Buying Guide to find the Best Wireless Earphones in India

1. Type – In-ear or on-ear

Here’s the thing, we don’t really like in-ear earphones. They are penetrative and don’t feel natural. But we understand we are in the minority and many people don’t mind the in-ear canal earbuds style.

If you do have a problem though, your options are quite limited and in our view, the AirPods are the only ones worth getting with that shape.

2. Sound

Sound is the most essential criteria for us. The whole purpose of getting wireless earphones would be to have good sound without the wires. The general rule here is the higher you pay, the better sound you get.

3. Battery

The battery is the second-most essential criteria. We like earphones which last really long and charge really quickly. There is no point to get wireless earphones only to keep them charging every day.

4. Price

You have to have realistic expectations for the price you are willing to pay for earbuds. Don’t expect Beats type quality from Rs. 2000 earphones or even an Rs. 5000 earphone. They are priced in the Rs. 20000 range for a reason.

5. Compatibility

Some earphones work really well with Apple devices (AirPods, Powerbeats) and some really well with Samsung devices (Galaxy buds). Check the compatibility with the device you are going to connect the earbuds with and then take a call.

6. After-Sales Support

After-sales services suck in India. So we place great importance on how much coverage and quality a company has in terms of its after-sales service. Apple, Sennheiser and Samsung are great examples of good service coverage, Jabra and Realme not quite so.

List of the Best Wireless Earphones in India

1. Apple AirPods Pro – The Best Wireless Earphones in India

Apple AirPods Pro
Pros
  • Amazing connectivity with Apple devices
  • Good sound
  • Call voice clarity perfect
  • Great battery life
  • Water-resistant
  • Good noise-cancellation
Cons
  • Connectivity not seamless with Android phones
  • Not that great a sound for the price

If you have an iPhone, the AirPods will give you the best connectivity along with convenience and a good sound. You can get Siri integration with it and a decent sound quality experience.

This device will change how you use your phone, the whole mechanism of picking up calls and listening to music or podcasts is too smooth. You can double-tap on the AirPods to switch tracks or answer/cut calls.

We love that the AirPods are not in-ear buds that go into your ear canal, we prefer earphones which sit on the ear canal and luckily, these fit our ears just fine. However, some people have found problems with them staying on their ears.

We use the AirPods in the gym, for work and casual music and we love them and cannot recommend them enough.

2. Sennheiser Momentum

Sennheiser Momentum
Pros
  • Amazing sound
  • Great battery life
  • Good design
  • Splash-resistant
Cons
  • Expensive
  • Touch controls on the device not comfortable to use

The Sennheiser Momentum True Wireless Earphones provide the best-in-class sound in a very compact design. Apart from the in-ear canal buds, these are the best wireless earphones in the market right now but they do come at a steep price.

The Momentum True Wireless earphones are splash-resistant and can run for 4 hours without the charging case and 13 hours with the charging case on regular use.

They sync great with all phones (but not as well as the AirPods-iPhone) and are a treat to listen to. The touch controls are cramped and not convenient to use. Other than that, they are great all around.

These are the best earphones if sound quality is most important to you above all else.

3. Jabra Elite 65T

Jabra Elite 65T
Pros
  • Good sound for the price
  • Can also be used for fitness tracking
  • Quick-charge feature
  • Sweat-resistant
  • Great battery
Cons
  • Charging case not easy to open
  • After-sales service is weak in India

The Jabra Elite 65T would be our go-to alternative to the AirPods. They work well, sound great and are sweat-resistant. The only problem is that the connectivity is not as seamless as the AirPods with the iPhone but they are still good.

These would be our favourite to pair with any Android device and if you are using earbuds for working out. Costing around Rs. 12000, these provide excellent value for the price in terms of sound and battery life.

A big red flag however is the lack of extensive after-sales support in India. If your earphones get damaged or need repair, be ready to wait for around a month for a full resolution to the problem.

Other than that, these are the perfect wireless earphones for most people.

4. Powerbeats Pro – The Best Wireless Earphones for workout enthusiasts

Jabra Elite 65T
Pros
  • Incredible sound
  • Great design and comfort
  • Seamless connectivity with iPhones, just like the AirPods
  • Amazing battery life
Cons
  • Very expensive in India
  • Bulky charging case

The Powerbeats Pro mix the seamless connectivity of the AirPods, the sound quality of the Sennheiser Momentum (almost) and the best stability among all wireless earphones.

These are the best wireless earphones for working out or using while playing sports or doing Crossfit. The ear hooks are ergonomically designed to ensure that they don’t come off even during the toughest workouts.

The sound quality is superb with great bass which is what Beats is known for. The battery life is lengthy with up to 10 hours without the charging case and 24 hours with the charging case.

The only problem with the Powerbeats Pro is the bulky charging case which fits very awkwardly in the pocket and is not very portable when compared to other options.

Overall these are great and we love them but they are very expensive in India costing around Rs. 21000 which is higher than the US price (around Rs. 15000).

5. Bose Soundsport Free

Bose Soundsport Free
Pros
  • Best sound, second only to the Powerbeats and Sennheiser Momentum
  • IPX4 water-resistant
Cons
  • Weird design
  • Battery life not great

The Bose Soundsport Free are the earphones for the Bose loyalists out there who really like the signature full-range sound of the Bose. Priced between the Powerbeats Pro and the Jabra Elite 65T/AirPods, they provide a very full sound and water-resistance satisfying both fitness buffs and audiophiles.

With that said, we think the design is a bit too weird for our taste. They look like they are jutting out from the ear when you wear them. Also, the battery life was found to be a bit lacking coming in at 3.5 hours of use and with 10 hours with the charging case.

Buy these only if you feel you can’t live without Bose in your ears, otherwise, the Jabra Elite 65T offer better value than these considering the price difference between them.

6. Samsung Galaxy Buds – The Best Earphones for Samsung Devices

Samsung Galaxy Buds
Pros
  • Seamless connectivity with Samsung devices
  • Good sound
  • Lengthy battery life
  • Sweatproof
Cons
  • Call connectivity not the best
  • Syncing with other devices not good

Right off the bat, we suggest thinking about these earphones only if you have a Samsung phone or even go further to say if you have Samsung S10 and forward devices.

These have a lot of problems with syncing to other phones and also have issues in call connectivity and quality. With that said, the earphones provide good sound, as good as the AirPods 2 but with better noise reduction thanks to the in-ear design.

The battery life is also excellent coming in at 6 hours without the charging case. These are good quality earphones at a decent price but we would only recommend them to pair with Samsung S10 and later devices.

7. OnePlus Bullets Wireless 2 – The Best Wireless Earphones under Rs. 5000 in India

OnePlus Bullets Wireless 2
Pros
  • Good sound
  • USB-C type charging port
  • Warp charge tech – takes 10-minute charge to play for 10 hours
  • Quick pair with OnePlus phones
Cons
  • Sound not really up there with the best
  • No IP rating for water or sweat resistance

The OnePlus Bullet Wireless 2 earphones tries to give you the best of two worlds – connectivity features and sound. Though it excels in the first, it falls short in the latter.

Now with a ~Rs. 6000 earphones, you would want it to have everything but the OnePlus lacks the punch in terms of sound which you get from earphones with similar features around the Rs. 10,000 range.

But with that said, the features are pretty great. Take the arp charge technology which allows you to charge for 10 minutes to give a playback time of 10 hours. Or the magnetic lock feature which automatically pauses the music. Or the Bluetooth 5.0 connectivity which gives almost as fast connectivity like the AirPods.

The design, style, the utility is all great and the sound is not bad at all, just that it did not blow us away. This is the best option in this price range considering the trade-offs.

8. Realme Buds Wireless – The Best Wireless Earphone under Rs. 2000 in India

Realme Buds Wireless
Pros
  • Good design
  • Decent sound for the price
  • 10 hour battery life
Cons
  • Controls are not intuitive to use
  • Call performance is inconsistent

The Realme Buds Wireless may not match more expensive earphones like the OnePlus Bullets in terms of sound but they do seem to provide just enough features to make it worthwhile at Rs. 1,799.

The Realme Buds have a 10-hour battery life, a premium design and decent sound but its controls are not intuitive and should have had some groves or partitions to easily navigate them without looking.

Also, a lot of users said they experienced issues in call quality and consistency. But at Rs. 1799 this is an acceptable trade-off. The Realme Buds wireless does a lot for its price and is the best buy at a price of under Rs. 2000 for wireless earbuds.

9. boAt Rockerz 255 – The Best Wireless Earphones in India under Rs. 1500

boAt Rockerz 255
Pros
  • Cheap price for the features you get
  • Sweat-resistant
Cons
  • Wires are too long for our liking
  • Bluetooth range up to 10 meters only
  • Call performance inconsistent

The boAt Rockerz 255 is a value-for-money earphone device. It has decent sound and provides Bluetooth connectivity at a paltry Rs. 1499. You can get it during sales at under Rs. 1000.

They are sweat-resistant making it ideal for workouts. Just don’t expect that great a sound quality. You get what you pay for. Buy these only if you have a budget of Rs. 1500 and definitely want wireless earphones. We would prefer getting wired options in this budget but to each his own.
