If you do not want to go through the article and just want to know our best picks, here they are:
Types of CCTV Cameras in India
1. Dome Cameras
Dome cameras get their name from their shape, a circular dome type. The camera is encased in a protective glass shell shaped like a dome.
They can be used as both inside and outside cameras but they are mostly used inside because of their discreet design. They are also preferred because they cannot be broken easily thanks to the covering shell.
Also, it is quite difficult to make out where the camera is actually pointing towards in a dome CCTV camera.
2. Bullet Cameras
Bullet cameras are also shaped by their cylindrical shape similar to that of a bullet shell. They are the most common type of security cameras and are a deterrent to any potential trespassers because these cameras are so visible.
The main advantages of a bullet camera are its range and ease of installation. They can also be fitted with higher resolution lenses when compared to dome cameras.
These are ideal for outdoor use but may also be easier to dismantle because they are so visible.
Dome Cameras vs Bullet Cameras
|Installation||Inside or outside but more difficult to install than bullet cameras||Easier to install than dome cameras, whether inside or outside|
|Range||Smaller lenses and hence lesser range than bullet cameras||Bigger lenses and hence larger range than dome cameras|
|Light||Works in both day and night||Works in both day and night|
|Best use case||Indoors and discreet areas||Outdoors and visible areas|

1. Mi MJSXJ02CM 360° 1080P WiFi Home Security Camera
The Mi Home Security Camera can be placed on a table and also on a celing. Xiaomi provides screws, base plates and screw caps with the box to affic it to the ceiling.
To install it, all you need to do is connect to a USB power source and it will start. You can view a live feed of the video on your phone by downloading the Xiaomi Home app (available on both iOS and Android).
You can connect your Mi camera with your home WiFi and it will start transmitting the feed to your phone instantly. The camera itself is 2 megapixels with sharp image quality even during the night thanks to its infrared camera.
You can schedule the camera to record 24-hours, daytime or nighttime or any other custom time as per your requirements. The one big disadvantage is that the recorded footage has to be stored on a local SD card which you have to buy yourself.
One really cool feature of the camera is the talkback feature where you can talk through your phone and the voice will transmit through the camera. This is especially a really good feature for new parents who sometimes leave their baby with a nanny.
This is camera is perfect for most people who want to monitor a single location. It is easy to install, feature-rich and has decent image quality. Our only gripe is with the lack of cloud storage but other than that, it is the best CCTV camera in India.Check price

Buying Guide for CCTV Cameras in India
A few basic factors to decide on which camera to purchase:
1. Place of surveillance – Inside or Outside
If you have an outdoor area to monitor, then a bullet camera would do best for you in terms of price, value and quality. If you want an indoor camera, then both dome and bullet cameras can be used.
However, if you want an indoor camera but want it to be hidden or discreet, then it’s better to buy a dome camera.
2. Video Resolution
Arguably, the most important fact since the purpose of a CCTV is to record everything around the area of monitoring. A 1080p resolution is ideal but slightly more expensive than the 720p cameras.
Cameras can be connected via two ways: wires or WiFi.
Wired cameras have to be physically connected through a wire to DVR to get the video feed in a particular location. Some DVRs can transmit the feed to a mobile or a tablet through WiFi. Newer DVR models come with WiFi connectivity, older ones do not.
WiFi connected cameras do not need any wires to transmit the video feed. They just need a WiFi connection through which you can directly see the feed on your mobile through the manufacturer’s app.
WiFi cameras are gaining in popularity increasingly though one drawback is the lack of space of local storage. Most cameras have only a limited SSD card storage for local storage. To get more space you need a camera which has cloud storage capability.
